RESUME
Hi! My name is Jody Pear and I am the founder of Home Design Junkies and owner of Jody Pear Designs. My credentials define me as a professional interior designer; however, I prefer to describe myself as an atmosphere creator. That’s what it is all about any way, isn’t it? Our desire to create a beautiful atmosphere is why we can’t stop watching HGTV, we devour the images on houzz late into the night, or buy yet another magazine chockfull of dreamy images we hope to replicate somehow.
Creating beautiful, functional, and comfortable atmospheres is what I do. I have studied and practiced the art of well-composed spaces most of my life and as a result, I am a self proclaimed Home Design Junkie with the experience and expertise to create the atmosphere my clients long for.
I received an Associate's Degree in Fine Arts at Henry Ford College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Design at Eastern Michigan University. It was a challenging and enlightening journey where I made many discoveries about my strengths, desires, passions, and talents. Throughout my college years, I developed a love of color and wanted to understand how to properly integrate it. I recently fulfilled my dream of attending Maria Killam's True Colour Expert class in Toronto. I have been a devoted virtual student of Maria's for nearly 5 years before finally meeting her in person and practicing hands-on in the classroom with her and 21 other talented women from all over North America and Canada. In this industry, the educational pursuit never ends; however, it inevitably weaves a unique tapestry that is the foundation of every designer.
I am a professional interior designer, decorator, and true colour expert. I deeply and passionately love imagining, observing, and creating beautiful atmospheres. I am grateful to have the ability to see beauty all around me; in all forms and in every facet of my life. I have spent +10,000 hours watching, learning, and studying design and decorating. I have the ability to listen to what my clients want, show them ideas they didn't think of on their own, and present them with a completed design that fits their lifestyle.
